Undergoing it’s first refresh since conception, importantly the requirement was for the brand and it’s site to evolve with the times. Essentially this meant:
Refining the core branding: logo, colour and typography
Redesigning the site to take on this updated look and thrive in a web accessible device agnostic world.
A further key requirement was to utilise the wordpress platform and structure the CMS in it’s simplest form to enable the content management of portfolio items.
First Stop. We defined the key business objective: Surfacing a few key projects from the outset and driving enquiries. I simplified the existing sites user flow to encourage visitors to immediately view a featured project on the homepage and subsequently hit that big ‘contact’ call to action… Presenting the user journey through wireframes and InVision prototyping.
Utilising a stylistically minimal yet fully responsive (skeleton) and scalable wordpress theme was fundamental; allowing me to produce what was essentially an MMP (minimum marketable product) far beyond expectation.
UI / VISUAL DESIGN
I took a pattern based approach to the UI. Designing core elements such as Typography styles and Call to action buttons to create a simple consistency across the site. Focusing on interactions to bring those elements to life with subtle transitions.
As an absolute designers delight I discovered an array of stunning high quality portfolio imagery currently underserved on the existing site. Naturally I wanted to bring this to life in the design.
